The Hub for our 2025 season

The Brodhead Historical Society hosts guest speakers during their monthly meetings and are open during community festivals. In addition to the meetings and events they are gearing up for a special 50th anniversary celebration. Stay tuned for more information!

2025 Schedule

Unless noted otherwise, meetings are held the last Monday of the month at 7:00p.m. in the Knight Addition of the Depot Museum.

March 31 – Meeting & I found this while Spring Cleaning, and I don’t know what it is: Please bring an item to share with the other attendees. Even if you don’t do any spring cleaning, or didn’t find anything, you’re welcome to show a family artifact or share a family story. (Please note that the originally scheduled program by Bill Pfisterer has been postponed.)

April

April 28 – Meeting & Spirits 101: Paris Trumbower, local psychic medium, will give an educational, non-sensationalized introduction into the spirit world.

May

May 19 – Meeting & there will be a sneak preview of the museum exhibits for the 2025 season. Note that this meeting will not be the last Monday of the month, due to Memorial Day.

May 26 – Memorial Day & The Depot Museum opens up to the public!

June

June 30 – A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Brodhead Historical Society.

July

July 28 – Meeting & Holly Everson’s presentation will be “A Work in Progress”. Holly and other volunteers are taking Brodhead business addresses and trying to document all the businesses that have been in that building. She will report on the process and share information on the buildings.

August

August 24 – Meeting & Jeff Wideman and Mariana Marques de Almeida, of Ms J and Co, Juda: “Introducing the Assaf Dairy Sheep to America”. Jeff has been in the local cheesemaking industry for over 50 years, and Mariana has a Master’s Degree in Small Ruminants from the University of Lisbon, Portugal. These two have a lot of information to share about Green County’s role in the dairy sheep industry.

August 9th – Covered Bridge Days – Open 9:00a – 4:00p, Historical Wagon Tours

September 1 – Museum Closed for Labor Day

– Meeting & Krista Searls will speak about early businesses on the south side of Brodhead.

October 4 – Autumn Fest, Open 9:00a-4:00p

The Depot Museum closes for the winter.

October 27 – Meeting & Jeremy Broge will give a presentation about the early history of the Green County Poor Farm, also known as the Green County Asylum. Today, the site of the farm is the home of the Pleasant View Nursing Complex.
