The Old Brodhead Police Department
Description
The old Brodhead Wisconsin Police Department at 1104 West Exchange Street. Before this building was donated to the city by Henry Clay Putnam the city jail was in a little building just south of the railroad tracks at 1105 First Center Avenue. That building is still standing and has been used for many purposes through the years. Before that offenders were lock up in a freight car in the depot yards. This police station had one jail cell The jail cell was condemned in 1966 and removed in a remodel in 1974. The police department was eventually moved to it's present location at the corner of West Exchange Street and West Third Avenue which was the old fire department.
